Gozar Architects - Philippines

Arch. Enrique P. Gozar, PIA, HKIDA founder and principal of Gozar Planners (HK) Ltd. established the firm in October of 1987 in Hong Kong as a limited company initially to provide architectural design support services to established architectural and interior design firms doing work on various complex projects like hotels, large residential and commercial developments and luxury residential condominiums. In 1990, the firm decided to directly service clients by opening their offices in the heart of busy, fast paced Wanchai, now the hive of most professional design oriented companies due to it’s central location and rapid modernization. In 1993, the firm launched it’s Philippine office in Makati, to further expand their services in the region, and to specially service existing clients in the country.

The firm acted as Design and Planning consultants for other architects and provides Architectural and Interior Design, Design Development, and Planning services directly to a small select group of professionals. It’s client base has been expanded to include some of the more known design companies in Hong Kong and the Philippines.

While providing consultancy services prior to it’s opening it’s own offices, the Managing Director / Principal Architect, Mr. Gozar, has been involved in designing, coordinating and being directly responsible for projects by the client architectural companies. He has provided the client firm his personal supervision of the project from inception thru completion, even up to post contract management.

These assignments has provided Mr. Gozar a wealth of experience and exposure to large scale projects and specialized projects located in Hong Kong, and various cities in China, the Philippines, Okinawa, Seoul and Guam. He has been directly responsible for several hotel projects in China in the cities of Dalian, Shanghai, Guilin and Shenzhen. Prior to forming Gozar Planners, he has been with large architectural firms like that of DMJM International-(Los Angeles), Architects Hawaii, Far East - (Honolulu), Wong & Tung International- (Houston), Eric Cumine Associates- (Hong Kong), Engracio Mariano & Associates and C.D. Arguelles & Associates - (Manila).

Arch. Gozar is joined by experienced, talented, dynamic architects and designers who has long and proven professional track records in Hong Kong, China, the Philippines and the Far East. All of them has worked on large and small projects of various complexities in these places.

Among them is a close friend, Arch. Jeff Leong, HKIA, MSIA, a Singapore national who is a Hong Kong “Authorized Person (List1) Architect”. He has a long and varied practice history in Hong Kong - 30 years (4 years in Singapore & Malaysia). His experience in project design, management and construction implementation has made Mr. Leong almost an authority in institutional projects.

Our HK partner, an RIBA member, Arch. Michael Chan, HKIA, RIAA, has 20 years of solid experience in projects in Hong Kong and the mainland China. His design flair has been proven in his past projects in HK like the Hong Kong University Redevelopment, the Pacific Place, the Century Hotel and the Allied Kajima Bldg. in Hong Kong.

An interior designer by profession, Mr. Ramon O. Lorenzana, PIID, is a graduate of the University of Santo Tomas in Manila. He has a long and varied experience in HK having practiced there for the past 23 years among well known HK interior design firms like Dale Keller & Associates, R. Hauser & Partners, M. Moser & Associates and Wong & Ouyang Architects. Mr. Lorenzana heads the Interior Design department and is also the principal graphics designer for the firm.

Manila office is headed by a dynamic young architect, an Associate Partner of the firm, Arch. Jose Mari Gozar B.S. Arch., a graduate from Feati University. He has been involved in large scale projects like the Duty Free Fiesta Shopping Complex, and the on going design for the 120 hectare project in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Also in our team are Architects Ricardo Cabrera and Arch. Alvic Samson, our project design architect, and production architect respectively. They are in-charge also of several projects like the GT International Tower, The Metropark Development in Roxas Blvd. and the Valencia Hills project and the Bay Gardens project.

Our Manila CADD bureau is headed by locally tech-bred, Feati University graduate, Arch. Joseph Aranas a young but very versatile “techie“ in the field of computer aided design and drafting and graphics, using the latest versions of the most popular CADD softwares. He is currently involved in the planning and design of the Lim Ket Kai Mall in Cagayan de Oro City, Island of Mindanao.

In our HK CADD (Computer Aided Design & Drafting) Department, Mr. Ernesto Santos, UAP, an architect also from the University of Santo Tomas is also our Facilities Manager, specially for the computer aided management and control of the project. As the office is basically computer aided in all aspects of design, production, drafting and office automation, his skill is a valued asset to the firm. Formerly of Davenport Campbell & Partner, he has an extensive experience in office and commercial design, planning and construction.

The team is also joined by seasoned architects, interior designers architectural technicians and detailmen from HK, Manila, and China. Outboard HK and Shanghai support personnel on a “part time” and “project basis” includes expert CADD architectural technicians, interior design draftsmen and presentation layout artists. Specialist contractual support personnel includes specialist renderers from Manila, veterans of Singapore, HK and the Middle East and when small scale modelling in various media is needed we have the model making group of RBG Models Inc., based in greater Metro-Manila, Philippines. When required, our affiliated consultants and support group in 3D computer aided modeling, Synthegraf Inc. is available for computer animation, simulation, and multi-media presentations.

It’s inspiring to see how Arch. Enrique P. Gozar built a firm that bridges international design standards with local expertise. Strong architectural leadership like this really elevates construction services Philippines, especially when thoughtful planning and global experience come together to shape better spaces.
